This GMC Sierra possesses a unique appearance that sets it apart from the rest. While testing out the New Sierra, I discovered that one of my employees digitally inserts himself into pictures with the Sierra and is saving up for it. Multiple people actually admired the truck, calling it their dream truck. If I were to imagine a truck, it would closely resemble a GMC Sierra in terms of features and more. Let’s delve into the findings of the brand new 2023 GMC Sierra AEV edition.
Teaming up with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), GMC is introducing the Inaugural 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD Crew Cab AT4X AEV Edition. It was thrilling to have this on my list of test vehicles, and the new Sierra certainly did not disappoint. The collaboration has led to enhanced off-road capability, luxury, and technological advancements.
American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is a globally renowned leading provider of premium aftermarket parts and accessories for vehicles designed for recreational driving and overland adventure travel. AEV products are built using advanced and innovative engineering and manufacturing processes, aiming to not just customize a vehicle but to enhance its appearance, functionality, and drivability on highways and trails.
The GMC Sierra is already among my top choices in the full-size truck market. I believe GMC owners and enthusiasts will be amazed by the joint effort on the 2023 Sierra.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2023 Sierra 1500 4WD Crew Cab AT4X AEV is attention-grabbing, leaving a lasting impression. In the Deep bronze metallic finish, it appears as a deep green with hints of gold depending on the time of day. The muscular body exudes an aura of capability.
The AEV package lends the Sierra a unique off-road identity. Owing to its robust all-terrain tires, reinforced heavy-duty suspension system, and sturdy skid plates, it is geared up for any challenge. The prominent GMC grille is easily recognizable from a distance and contributes to the overall rugged appearance of this truck. The LED headlights and rugged styling details complete the bold aesthetic, ensuring that this truck captures attention wherever it goes.
An element that combines practicality and a cool factor is the tailgate functionality, which includes a step for accessing the truck bed. This proved to be extremely helpful when assisting a friend with moving items. Additionally, it features a Bluetooth sound system for tailgating.
Interior
The cabin is spacious and incorporates a blend of comfort, convenience, and technology in the AT4X AEV interior. GMC employs premium materials and high-quality products throughout, including soft leather upholstery and authentic wood accents, to create a luxurious ambiance. With ample storage, it serves well as a work truck or for memorable road trips and adventures.
The technology is user-friendly, with a straightforward learning curve for mastering the basics. There are numerous settings to customize the vehicle as per individual requirements. The abundance of buttons facilitates tasks such as opening or closing the tailgate. Towing is made notably convenient with the buttons and interface. The displays are as striking as the exterior, featuring a 13.4″ diagonal infotainment center, 12.3″ diagonal digital driver information center, and 15″ diagonal multicolor head-up display, providing over 40 inches of combined driver-focused digital displays — the most in its class. The 12-speaker Bose Premium Series with CenterPoint Surround Sound includes AudioPilot Noise Compensation technology for maintaining a quiet cabin, along with a Richbass subwoofer. The standard 6-function MultiPro Tailgate also includes the MultiPro Audio System from KICKER®†. Comprehensive data is easily accessible. Surprisingly, this vehicle exhibited impressive fuel efficiency. There is ample room for both driver and passengers, accommodating 3 adults comfortably in the back.
Engine and Transmission
Beneath the hood, the massive 6.2-liter V8 engine is coupled with a seamless 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain combination delivers abundant horsepower and torque efficiently, as evidenced by its impressive fuel economy. On highways, the acceleration is consistent and sufficient. While I did not have the opportunity to test it in rainy or muddy conditions due to the summer weather, it performs admirably off-road with ample power. The responsiveness of the accelerator stood out as a highlight for me.
Options Packages
One of the Sierra 1500’s standout features is its versatility in options packages. It offers a range of packages catering to diverse preferences, whether for technology enhancements, off-road capabilities, or premium luxury. The AT4X AEV package, tailored specifically for off-road enthusiasts, elevates the truck’s ruggedness. It includes an array of off-road-focused components such as specially tuned shocks, all-terrain tires, and a locking rear differential, allowing you to conquer the toughest trails with confidence.
Towing Capabilities
When it comes to towing, the 2023 Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV is in a league of its own. With an impressive maximum towing capacity of up to 13,000 pounds, this is undoubtedly a truck to consider for your towing needs.
Safety Features
Given the sheer size of this powerful truck, I felt secure simply being in it and having a higher vantage point in traffic. GMC has also integrated numerous safety features.
Equipped with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking, this vehicle incorporates technologies designed to enhance safety and instill a sense of security during your travels. These systems seamlessly work together to offer added safety and peace of mind.
On a side note, my wife, who tends to feel anxious on the freeway surrounded by large 18-wheelers on I-10, mentioned feeling less apprehensive in the GMC as it provided a sense of safety and security.
Conclusion
All in all, the 2023 Sierra 1500 4WD Crew Cab AT4X AEV is a truck lover’s delight. It offers comfort, performance, rugged durability, and all the modern technology that was not present in trucks of the past. It exceeded expectations both on and off-road. If you are in the market for a luxurious yet robust truck capable of tackling nearly any challenge, then this might just be the one.
My test truck had an MSRP of $90,935 with the AEV options package priced at $6,895. You can get a GMC Sierra starting at an MSRP of $66,800. For official information, visit the link below.
