Fresh information concerning the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is now circulating online. Just a day before the official reveal, the latest details have emerged. Judging by the information we are about to disclose, the upcoming GT3 RS seems highly promising.
Commencing with the powertrain – the upcoming GT3 RS is set to become the most potent naturally-aspirated 911 to date. The 4.0-liter flat-6 engine is anticipated to deliver 518 horsepower, representing a 15 HP increase compared to the GT3 model.
What sets the RS apart from the standard GT3 is its exterior design. Equipped with an aggressive aero kit, it is reported to produce 900 pounds of downforce at 124 mph and 1896 pounds at 177 mph. Despite enhancing the car’s cornering capabilities, the increased downforce also results in drag on straight stretches. As a solution, Porsche has integrated a DRS (Drag Reduction System) into the GT3 RS. Through a simple button press, the driver can alter the angle of attack of the rear wing to decrease drag. Activating the DRS allows the car to reach a maximum speed of 184 mph.
Moreover, the GT3 RS features active aerodynamic components at the front. Utilizing F1-style bargeboards on the front fenders to direct air along the sides, alongside louvres that aid in extracting air from the wheel arches.
Porsche has implemented revisions to the suspension system as well. The GT3 RS boasts a slightly wider front track than the GT3, enabling drivers to fine-tune compression and rebound via controls on the steering wheel.
While the braking system remains somewhat standard, utilizing the same iron rotors as the GT3, customers can opt for carbon ceramics. Porsche will also provide magnesium wheels with the Weissach package.
Now, onto the significant detail – cost. Speculations indicate that the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 RS will carry a starting price tag of $225,000.
