2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe Review Combining Luxury and Advanced Features

The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe makes a bold debut in the luxury SUV coupe segment, merging the brand’s hallmark elegance with a sleek, fastback design. As a sportier counterpart to the traditional GV80 SUV, the Coupe is crafted to attract drivers who seek both performance and luxury.

The exterior of the GV80 Coupe commands attention with its graceful roofline that seamlessly transitions into robust rear haunches. The front features Genesis’s renowned crest grille enhanced by quad LED headlights, while defined character lines along the sides enhance its sporty demeanor. Distinctive elements like a subtle rear spoiler and exclusive wheel designs differentiate the Coupe from its SUV counterpart.

Under the hood, the GV80 Coupe is powered by two formidable engine options. The base variant sports a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 generating 375 horsepower, sufficient for a variety of driving scenarios. Performance aficionados can opt for a more powerful version of this V6, which utilizes both a turbocharger and an electric supercharger to boost output to 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. Both powertrains are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and come standard with all-wheel drive, ensuring confident handling across varied driving environments. It is important to note that, while the Coupe incorporates hybrid technology through a mild hybrid system with the electric supercharger, there are no full hybrid options available at this stage.

Behind the wheel, the GV80 Coupe delivers a well-rounded driving experience. Its suspension system is carefully calibrated to prioritize comfort, effectively absorbing road imperfections for a smoother ride. Although it maintains stable handling, some driving purists may feel it lacks the agility of more performance-oriented rivals. Acceleration is brisk, with the upgraded V6 enabling the Coupe to go from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.6 seconds. The cabin remains quiet at highway speeds, fostering a serene driving environment.

With respect to fuel efficiency, the GV80 Coupe stands its ground against competitors in the same class. The EPA ratings for the enhanced 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with electric supercharging are 18 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and a combined 20 mpg. These figures are quite respectable given the vehicle’s performance capabilities and all-wheel-drive configuration.

Safety is a key consideration for Genesis, and the GV80 Coupe adheres to this principle. While crash test ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA are pending, the vehicle is equipped with a broad range of advanced safety features. Standard offerings include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. These technologies underscore Genesis’s commitment to occupant protection and accident prevention.

Inside, the GV80 Coupe’s cabin is a showcase of fine craftsmanship, combining high-end materials with cutting-edge technology. A striking 27-inch OLED display dominates the dashboard, skillfully integrating both infotainment and instrument panel functions for a clear visual experience and intuitive controls. The seating is upholstered in premium leather, featuring front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage capabilities for enhanced comfort. Although the rear seats offer sufficient space, the sloping roofline may limit headroom. Cargo capacity is adequate for everyday use, though it is slightly less than that of the standard GV80 SUV.

The GV80 Coupe is equipped with technological features designed to elevate convenience and entertainment. Its infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring easy smartphone integration. Audiophiles will appreciate the optional Bang & Olufsen audio setup, which delivers a rich listening experience. Additional highlights include a head-up display, wireless charging pad, and multiple USB ports for device charging. The vehicle also supports over-the-air updates, allowing for seamless software enhancements without a trip to the dealership.

The GV80 Coupe is available in two primary trims. The base model starts at approximately $79,950 and includes standard features such as the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, leather interiors, advanced safety technologies, and the expansive OLED display. The higher-tier trim, retailing for around $85,750, offers the upgraded V6 with the electric supercharger for those seeking enhanced performance. This version further includes luxury features such as the premium audio system, panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver assistance technologies.

With the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe, the brand successfully combines luxury with sporty aesthetics, making it an appealing choice for those in the market for a distinctive vehicle in the luxury SUV coupe category. Its sleek design, powerful engines, and array of modern amenities establish it as a strong contender in its segment.
