Aston Martin is preparing for a significant transformation in its current range. The British carmaker is all set to reveal a range of new models, including electric vehicles. More details are expected to be announced at the upcoming capital markets day for investors later this year. Meanwhile, Aston Martin might unveil the electric car during this summer.
Anticipated New Cars at Aston Martin
At present, Aston Martin is in the process of testing the successor to the DB11. Earlier this year, spy images of the replacement for the DB11 have already surfaced. Aston Martin is scheduled to officially unveil it later this year.
Furthermore, both the Vantage and the DBS are due for an update. Amongst these three, the DBS is the oldest and will be the first to be announced. The DBS will also be the first to be launched amongst the three. The DBS was introduced by Aston Martin back in 2016 and is now over 7 years old. Aston Martin may surprise us by introducing an entirely new generation of DBS rather than just a facelift.
Change in Leadership at Aston Martin
Recently, Lawrence Stroll took over from Andy Palmer as the chairman of Aston Martin. Following this transition, Stroll scrapped the Rapide E and Lagonda – two EV projects from the British carmaker. Instead, the company will now produce two new EVs, with one being a sports car and the other an SUV. The new EV might be unveiled by 2025.
Aston Martin will also be making an announcement about traditional ICE cars, hybrid cars, and finally the electrics, along with their timelines for both new launches and discontinuations, this summer.
Positive Financial Developments at Aston Martin
One of the key drivers behind the new direction for Aston Martin is the news of positive quarterly reports. In the last quarter, Aston Martin reported a profit of US$ 7.9 million. This implies that the car maker can now concentrate on new electric vehicles. The first electric vehicle from the brand might already be in development but now has received that much-needed push.
Internal reports have indicated positive signs with regards to the volume of cars sold. Last year, the company sold 6,400 units; for 2023, the car maker is anticipating no less than 7,000 units. The company also expects the DBX to record the highest sales figures.
