BMW M2 Achieves Record-Breaking Nürburgring Lap Time In The Compact Class

The BMW M2 has broken the Nurburgring lap record for the compact class. The coupe completed the circuit in an impressive time of 7 minutes 38.706 seconds.

The car was driven by Jörg Weidinger, a development engineer for the BMW M team. He took two laps to familiarize himself with the track conditions before attempting the record-breaking lap on his third try.

The second-generation BMW M2 was introduced last year and shares its engine with the M4. The car is powered by a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine that produces 453 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 177 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package.
