Former Formula 1 driver Bruno Senna, who is the nephew of the late Ayrton Senna, recently had the opportunity to drive a McLaren Solus GT. He took the single-seater for a lap around Silverstone.
The Solus GT made its first dynamic appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month. It was designed as a million-dollar track toy with a carbon fibre monocoque. Its design was inspired by the Vision GT and is said to generate 2645 lbs of downforce, which is more than the car’s weight of 2205 lbs.
The Solus GT is equipped with a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that revs up to 10,000 rpm and produces 829 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed sequential gearbox with straight-cut gears and a carbon fibre clutch.
