McLaren Automotive possesses a selection of remarkable track-only GT racing vehicles in their collection, including the 720S GT3 and 570S GT4. The latter will soon make way for the brand new Artura GT4. McLaren has now unveiled the McLaren Trophy, an upcoming one-make supercar championship designed for both aspiring and seasoned professional as well as amateur GT pairs. The championship is set to kick off in 2023 at some of Europe’s premier racing circuits, running in conjunction with Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS events.
The McLaren Trophy series will feature the McLaren Artura Trophy race car, a brand-new vehicle based on the Artura GT4 model. Since it is a single-make championship, the Artura Trophy edition is not bound by GT4 regulations such as Balance of Power (BoP) constraints. This means that the Trophy version may boast a higher power output and increased downforce in comparison to the GT4 variant, effectively positioning the Artura Trophy as swift as a GT3 race car.
“We are thrilled to introduce the McLaren Trophy, showcasing the latest Artura Trophy race car; an exclusive motorsport championship offering a luxurious paddock experience that perfectly represents the McLaren ethos. With the expanding realm of Pro-Am GT racing, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of seasoned competitors and the emergence of new McLaren talents to our paddock, ensuring many thrilling seasons of racing with the exceptional new Artura Trophy race car.” Gareth Dunsmore, Chief Marketing Officer, McLaren Automotive
