First pre-production Pagani Utopia hits the road

We’ve seen spy images of the Pagani Utopia before, but a pre-production car sans camouflage is certainly a first. Varryx spotted this beauty somewhere in Italy.

Varryx often camps outside the Lamborghini factory to bring us some cool shots of current and future models. This time, he was able to capture the Utopia in all its glory. In fact, it was his first time seeing the car in flesh.

The Utopia is the replacement for the Pagani Huayra. The design isn’t radically different but retains the classic teardrop shape of the cabin and the signature oval design elements. In fact, it borrows cues from the Zonda. The car seen in this video has a matte brown exterior with what appear to be matte carbon elements.

The Utopia is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG. It produces 864 hp @ 6000 rpm and 811 lb-ft of torque @ 2800-5900 rpm. The engine can be mated to a 7-speed automated manual transmission or a proper manual.

Here’s bonus clip of Horacio Pagani driving his latest creation.
