Another milestone has been reached by the Mercedes-AMG One. The hypercar has established a fresh lap record at Monza, now holding the title for the quickest production car to complete a lap of the Italian circuit.
With Maro Engel at the helm, the AMG One circuited the racetrack in 1 min 43.9 seconds. The vehicle is equipped with all the necessary technology to tackle a high-speed circuit like Monza. As most of you may know, the AMG One is a hybrid, requiring Engel to effectively manage the battery consumption and strategically utilize the electric boost.
At the core of the AMG One lies a Formula 1-derived 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine, which, in conjunction with the hybrid system, produces 1049 hp. In addition to its raw power, the hypercar also boasts an impressive aerodynamics system that enhances its grip in the corners and reduces drag to a minimum on straight lines. The drag reduction feature for the rear wing proves particularly useful at a track like Monza.
The Mercedes-AMG One previously set a production car lap record at the Nurburgring in November last year. Once again, it was Engel who piloted the vehicle around the 21 km racetrack in 6 min 35.183 seconds.
