AutoTopNL recently got a chance to test a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 on the Autobahn. As per tradition, the car was driven at top speed on a derestricted stretch, which would be almost impossible to think of in the US.
The Shelby GT500 is so much more than a regular Mustang. It packs a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that belts out 760 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The motor is bolted to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear axle.
On the Autobahn, the GT500 was able to reach 190 mph without breaking a sweat. However, the car does feel quite unstable at high speed, especially with the suspension in the firmest setting.
The way in which the GT500 gathers momentum is impressive despite its weight. The mighty V8 upfront is certainly the highlight of this car. This brawny American also chugs petrol like a muscle car.
