Alfa Romeo and Zagato have revealed their newest creation – the Giulia SWB Zagato. It marks the centennial milestone of the partnership between the two Italian companies.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato is derived from the Giulia Quadrifoglio sedan. It adopts the GTAm’s powertrain, housing a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 533 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The vehicle showcases a bold yet elegant front design highlighted by the iconic triple-pod LED headlights and the triangular grille. As a Zagato creation, it showcases the signature double-bubble roof and a rear end with a continuous LED light strip.
Alejandro Mesonero – Vice President of Alfa Romeo Design, stated, “In honor of its century-long legacy, Zagato has crafted a unique creation. The outcome is a vehicle that seamlessly aligns with the historic journey of the two brands, prioritizing the fusion of aesthetics and performance.”
Alfa Romeo “SZ”, an abbreviation that stirs sentiments, traces its roots back to the rich heritage of custom car design, reflecting a meticulous approach akin to crafting attire for a vehicle, tailored in a unique manner inspired by the ethos and culture of workshops that, like Zagato, have reimagined the essence of the “biscione” badge.
The ethos of the 2023 SZ remains true to that of the 1960s, embodying a form sculpted by simplicity, aerodynamic efficiency, and lightweight construction. The new SZ embodies a sleek, uncomplicated silhouette, with elongated lines stretching from the front to the back, exuding a blend of understated strength and muscularity,” he elaborated.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato is a unique creation commissioned by a passionate collector from Germany who holds a deep appreciation for the brand. Besides owning several Alfa Romeo models in his collection, he also possesses an 8C Competizione.
