Alfa Romeo and Zagato have showcased their newest creation – the Giulia SWB Zagato. This marks a century of partnership between the two esteemed Italian companies.
Based on the Giulia Quadrifoglio sedan, the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato adopts the GTAm’s powertrain, featuring a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine generating 533 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The vehicle showcases a bold yet elegant front design with the iconic triple-pod LED headlights and triangular grille. As expected from a Zagato creation, it flaunts the trademark double-bubble roof and a rear end with a seamless LED light strip.
Vice President of Alfa Romeo Design, Alejandro Mesonero, commented, “To mark its centennial, Zagato has crafted a unique creation. The outcome is a vehicle that seamlessly continues the historical journey of these two brands, where the primary focus has always been on merging elegance with high performance.”
Alfa Romeo “SZ”, a name that evokes sentiments, traces back its heritage to the rich tradition of coachbuilding, one that involves crafting cars with the same intricate attention to detail as a tailor dressing a specially tailored garment according to the unique vision, the cultural heritage of those workshops that, like Zagato in this particular case, have interpreted the iconic serpent logo.”
The ethos behind this new 2023 SZ harks back to the 1960s, with a design philosophy centered on simplicity, aerodynamics, and lightweight construction. The new SZ showcases a sleek, uncomplicated body, accentuated by elongated lines that stretch from the front to the back, creating a blend of robustness and understated muscularity at the same time,” he elaborated.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato is a bespoke creation commissioned by a passionate collector from Germany who holds a deep admiration for the brand. Apart from owning numerous Alfas in his collection, he also possesses an 8C Competizione.
