During the 2023 IAA Mobility event in Munich, Mercedes introduced a plug-in hybrid variant of the newly launched AMG GT.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept E Performance is furnished with the same twin-turbo V8 engine found in the GT 63. However, it also entails a plug-in hybrid system that boosts the overall power from 577 hp to over 800 hp. Although Mercedes has not revealed the torque figure, a substantial increase from the 590 lb-ft provided by the GT 63 can be anticipated.
Without a doubt, the performance of this hybrid will be exceedingly impressive. Nonetheless, our primary apprehension pertains to its weight. The AMG GT is already close to 2 tons, and with the inclusion of an electric motor and a hefty battery, the E Performance version will become even weightier.
Mercedes currently provides a comparable plug-in hybrid arrangement in the GT 63 S E Performance 4-door coupe, which flaunts an output of 831 hp and an enormous 1032 lb-ft of torque!
