AutoTopNL recently had the opportunity to test a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 on the Autobahn. Following tradition, the vehicle was driven at its maximum speed on a derestricted stretch, an endeavor that would be nearly impossible to imagine in the US.
The Shelby GT500 differs significantly from a regular Mustang. It houses a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing 760 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The engine is connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which channels power to the rear axle.
On the Autobahn, the GT500 managed to achieve a speed of 190 mph effortlessly. However, the car tends to feel rather unstable at high speeds, especially when the suspension is set to its firmest level.
The way in which the GT500 picks up speed is remarkable despite its weight. The powerful V8 in the front is undeniably the key feature of this vehicle. This robust American car also consumes fuel like a muscle car.
