2024 KIA Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro V6 AWD Evaluation

Following my experience with the 2024 KIA Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro V6 AWD. The name originates from one of my preferred locations in the world, Telluride CO, an exquisite yet somewhat difficult to reach town nestled between 14,000-foot peaks. The Telluride possesses elegance, extensive technology, internal space and driving performance. It’s evident why it stands as one of the leading Mid Size 3 row SUV’s in the present market.

It has indeed prompted competitors to elevate their standards, particularly Honda with the Pilot. The Telluride is genuinely unparalleled, boasting its distinct style, and KIA is continually enhancing its 2023 redesign and advancements.

Let’s delve deeper and analyze why the KIA Telluride was recognized as the “Top 3-Row SUV for Families” for the fourth consecutive year by U.S.News and World Report.

Eternal:

The exterior design of the Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro embodies a fusion of elegance and toughness. The test vehicle featured the Wolf Grey exterior color. I believe KIA has executed an incredible job in creating unique and remarkable colors overall, and the Wolf Grey perfectly complements the SX Prestige trim.

The bold lines and meticulously crafted details confer a striking aspect to the Telluride. The addition of unique elements like the bold grille and LED lighting contributes to an overall visual appeal that stands out in its category. The sharp boxy lines and the Tiger Nose Grille, which was a part of the 2023 redesign, add significant character. The lighting at the front end is not only visually appealing but also highly functional, including the double row of LED fog lights. The Telluride exudes beauty while also emanating strength, appearing ready for any adventure.

Internal:

Within the Telluride, a perfect blend of comfort, technology, and a well-crafted and proportionate cabin awaits. The foremost item that caught my attention was the Dual 12.3 Screen Panoramic Display. The functionality and user interface are exceptional. One notable feature that simplifies parking and various tasks is the ability to select different camera angles. Moreover, the captivating ambiance features offer diverse mood lighting and settings. Regarding mood, the Harman/Kardon Premium Audio System produces impressive sound, and KIA has gone to great lengths in interior conveniences and technology. The USB/ USB-C outlets and charging station are both convenient and easily accessible. The center console offers ample space for storage.

The Telluride is generously spacious, providing ample legroom for passengers, especially in the 3rd row. The second-row Captain’s chairs offer truly comfortable seating, and the 3rd row easily folds down to create additional space, accessible with just the touch of a button. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily the 3rd row can be accessed and how comfortable it is for taller passengers.

The interior design in the Prestige trim emits a sense of luxury, practicality, and ensures a comfortable drive for the entire family.

Engine and Gearbox:

The Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro is furnished with a robust 3.8L Naturally Aspirated V6 engine, delivering a substantial amount of power and efficiency. The transmission system seamlessly complements the engine’s performance, providing smooth shifts and responsive acceleration. It offers selectable drive modes such as Sport for enhanced throttle response or Eco to maximize fuel range. Additionally, there’s a Comfort mode for a balanced approach, a Smart mode that automates decisions, and a Snow mode. This powertrain combination ensures an enjoyable driving experience and caters to the practical requirements of a versatile SUV.

Driver’s Experience:

The Telluride is a user-friendly SUV with a commendable turning radius, making it easy to park and maneuver in various locations. In our moderate off-road excursion, the Telluride X-Pro exhibited strong performance. While we didn’t engage in any extreme activities, it definitely showcased its capability to handle diverse terrains. It also provides a comfortable ride for passengers.

Safety Aspects:

One of the compelling reasons families are drawn to the KIA  Telluride is its array of safety features designed to safeguard both driver and passengers. From advanced driver-assistance systems to a robust structural design, KIA has prioritized safety. Incorporating technologies such as pre-collision systems, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control provides an additional layer of confidence on the road.

Summation:

The 2024 KIA Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro V6 AWD offers significant value for the MSRP and is one of the top contenders when considering Mid-Size SUVs. Its exterior design, interior technology, and spaciousness cater extensively to the needs of those seeking a well-rounded, reliable vehicle. The inclusion of safety features and the ample 3rd-row space undoubtedly solidify the KIA Telluride’s standing as one of the most desirable options in its class.

It is possible to acquire a Telluride for an MSRP as low as $35,990

My test vehicle MSRP is $54,175
