The new 2024 Tacoma from Toyota has been revealed, presenting a notable enhancement over its predecessor, with upgrades that will maintain its lead among midsize truck rivals.
The previous generation Tacoma had an outdated interior and unimpressive engine, but despite this, it continued to dominate the category. The 2024 Tacoma transitions to a fresh platform, which it shares with the larger Tundra, and is equipped with a boxed frame extending from end to end. Additionally, there are enhancements to the suspension and disc brakes on all four wheels to enhance stopping capability. The exterior now appears even more robust than before, solidifying its position as one of the most attractive trucks in its category.
Under the hood, the previous engines have been substituted with two variants of the same turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, providing improved performance and efficiency. The new engine and platform bring substantial enhancements to the Tacoma’s on-road feel, offering more torque and a smoother ride.
The 2024 Tacoma also experiences advancements in its ride and handling, featuring a more rigid chassis and new suspension that delivers a smoother ride. Various trim levels offer distinct shocks tailored for specific capabilities, such as off-road driving.
Internally, the seating position has been raised for improved comfort, while the dashboard flaunts a more contemporary design. The infotainment system has been modernized and now integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moreover, the Tacoma also incorporates the latest edition of the Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance systems.
Pricing for the base model of the 2024 Tacoma starts at $32,995, with fluctuating prices based on the trim level and features.
Overall, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma represents a substantial leap from its forerunner, with a more competitive powertrain, improved ride and handling, and an enhanced interior.
